Roofing and Painting the Dorotea Church

The interior renovation of Dorotea Upendo Village at Ibumila is progressing well. New tiles have been installed on the floors and along the corridor walls.

The wall tiles will help keep these high-traffic areas clean as the children move throughout the homes. Each house’s living room has undergone the most noticeable transformation, and the bedrooms have been refreshed with new paint. The renovated interiors now look bright and welcoming.

The Dorotea Church is part of the Ibumila Upendo Village, one of the Upendo Family Centers operated by Tanzania Orphans Upendo Community (TOUCO).

For the children and families of Ibumila, the church is more than a building. It is a place where they can worship together, celebrate important occasions, and build a strong sense of community.

Dorotea’s generosity helped turn the vision of a dedicated church building into reality. Her support created a lasting legacy at Ibumila Upendo Village and provided a meaningful space for children and the surrounding community.

Roofing the Dorotea Church

As the church continues to serve the community, maintaining the building is essential. The roofing project is therefore an important next step in preserving the church that Dorotea helped make possible.

Improving the roof will help protect the building, allowing future generations of children and community members to continue using this special place.

Ibumila Upendo Village was created with the belief that children thrive when they are surrounded by a caring community. The Upendo Family Center provides children with a home, education, food, healthcare, and opportunities to develop the skills they need for their future.

The church is an important part of that environment.

Dorotea’s contribution to the construction of the church created a lasting gift for the Ibumila community. Today, maintaining and roofing the church helps protect that gift and ensures that it can continue serving the community.

It is about a donor who believed in the importance of giving. It is about children who have found a home and community at Upendo Village. And it is about the many people who continue to work together to build a better future.
