Celebrating a New Beginning: 2026 Kindergarten Graduation at Dorotea Upendo Village
A special milestone is being celebrated at Dorotea Upendo Village in Ibumila, Tanzania, as the youngest children reach an important step in their education—their kindergarten graduation.
Graduation is a joyful occasion for the children, their matrons, teachers, and the entire Upendo Village community. It marks the end of their early childhood education and the beginning of an exciting new chapter as they continue their education.
From Kindergarten to the Next Chapter
The kindergarten graduation represents a transition. The children are now ready to take their next steps in education and continue building the skills that will shape their futures.
TOUCO’s Upendo model brings children together in family-style homes where they receive care, education, guidance, and encouragement. The organization describes its goal as helping children eventually become independent and productive adults.
For the graduates, the journey that began in kindergarten will continue through primary school and beyond.
A Community Behind Every Child
Dorotea Upendo Village is part of TOUCO’s network of Upendo Family Centers in Tanzania. Ibumila is the newest of the centers and was opened in 2015.
The village was created around the belief that children need more than a place to live. They need a community where they can experience love, belonging, education, and the opportunity to develop their potential.
